“My visit to AIESEC Kharkiv at Ukraine in year 2008 was the most eye-widening one which has resulted into getting exposed to multi-dimensional culture driven by erstwhile Soviet ideologies. I have found Kharkiv, a second most populated city of Ukraine as cultural melting pot wherein Ukrainian, Russian, Azeris, Kazakhs, Armenians, Chinese and Indians are playing a very important role in the development of city’s social fabric. A country where, Raj Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty are treated as par with Gods of Optimitism and Happiness, it would be privilege for me to be the part of the Ukrainian travelogues all over again”
I was fortunate enough to get a one year internship offer from Nokia Siemens Networks in Munich, Germany. On the professional front, the job role was well crafted and I was given quite a few challenging work topics to perform. Since Nokia Siemens Networks was prepped by AIESEC Germany just the same way I was prepped by AIESEC India, the sync between myself, the intern, and NSN, the organization, was quite smooth and effective. On the personal front, my settling down in Munich and integration into the German culture were looked after by the AIESEC local chapter of Munich. Apart from trips to Museums, nearby Castles and customary Beers at the English Garden, I also got the opportunity to participate in the local and national conferences as Chair and facilitator respectively. I got the opportunity to share a 3 floored house with interns from 11 different countries. It gave me a good understanding of different cultures and made my cross cultural communication stronger. AIESEC Exchange is something I would urge every young person to undergo. It gives the much needed exposure and world view, something not very common growing up in India. With AIESEC looking after your exchange experience, I can assure you, you are in safe hands!
I went to Cairo, Egypt in May, 2014, working at NADIM as Graphic Designer, Product Designer and Photographer. I was working there as a travel photographer, marketing person and graphic designer. There I learnt how does it feel to work in a multinational environment, doing work within deadlines, doing work outside of your comfort zone, I sharpened my skills, got many contacts of people all around the world in my field that will benefit me in my future. Apart from professional aspect, I also got chance to stay and interact with more than 300 people from more than 60 nationalities and to know about life in different parts of the world, shared cultures and of course got the chance to explore Egypt. Healthy interaction with people from different countries and experts in different fields was very fruitful and helped me gain my knowledge which I believe makes me a global citizen. I also got to learn how to deal with people speaking different languages and also learning Arabic language. Now I now know how it feels to earn and live on your own, I successfully overcame my introvert personality and many other things I learnt here which will help me living a better life. For all these things, I will always be thankful to AIESEC!
